'Thrill kills:' Juveniles plead guilty in Cambria County deer poaching case, PAGC says
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Pennsylvania wildlife officials say multiple juveniles have pleaded guilty to illegally killing 10 deer in Cambria County last fall.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission posted earlier this week that the juveniles recently entered pleas to felony unlawful killing or taking of big game.
Authorities say the investigation began in the fall of 2023 when wildlife officials received multiple reports of deer being shot at night, in the Dysart area of Cambria County.
Officials say the deer were then reportedly left to "lay and rot" where they had been shot.
On the fourth night of the alleged poaching spree, authorities say state police and Cresson Township police caught the juveniles in the act.
Investigators say the juveniles were reportedly using spotlights and shooting the deer from the road.
Officials note that the juveniles were each ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, received probation and will have their hunting licenses suspended for multiple years.
